Experienced and Friendly Veterinary Surgeons.
Gwen and Ian met in university while studying at Glasgow Vet School. Since then they have been working as vets in the Somerset and Wiltshire area gaining a wealth of veterinary experience and enjoying their growing family. They now have three cats, one dog, four chickens, two tortoises and a pony as well as their three daughters so they have first-hand knowledge of the ups and downs of having well-loved pets in the family.
Gwendoline Cardiff BSc Hons BVMS MRCVS
Gwen grew up surrounded by animals (and her brothers) on her parents' dairy farm in Kelston and always dreamed of being a vet. After studying at Glasgow university, Gwen moved closer to home and has been working in Bath for many years. She particularly enjoys surgical cases and her recent work at Bath Cats and Dogs Home has given an insight into the anxieties that some dogs and cats feel. She has seen the difference that can be made to these individuals by taking things very slowly and calmly.
Gwen feels extraordinarily lucky to be working in their own practice in Kelston surrounded by her friends and family (from the practice you can almost see Kelston Church where she and Ian were married!) She is looking forward to using her experience and knowledge to give you and your pets the best possible treatment and care.
Ian Cardiff BSc Hons MSc Hons BVMS MRCVS
From an early age Ian was fascinated by the natural world and the animals that help to shape it. After completing a Degree in Ecology and a Masters in Wildlife Management Ian worked for many years as a zookeeper, specialising in lions and tigers. Here his passion for understanding 'how animals work' grew and training to be a vet was the next, inevitable step.
Since qualifying he has worked as a mixed practitioner in Cornwall, with companion animals in Somerset and more recently as a farm vet based in Wiltshire (very handy for the in-laws dairy farm!).
Ian loves the variety and unexpected challenges that often present in the life of a veterinary surgeon. Setting up and running his own practice is a dream come true and adds another exciting layer to life's great adventure.

Creating Kelston Vets.
By becoming a team Gwen and Ian can offer outstanding veterinary care, giving you and your pets the attention and personal service they deserve.
Alongside Becky and Sara , our fully qualified and experienced RVNs, the vision is to create a pleasant vet visit for both you and your pets. The Park Farm yard is a peaceful, quiet area with plenty of room to park, reducing the stress for cats travelling to and from the vet practice.
Dogs and their owners may like to take time before or after their routine vet visits to explore the footpaths in Kelston Village. You might like to stop for a coffee and cheese toastie at the Bath Soft Cheese shop. Please ask at reception and we can point you in the right direction!
